Alipay+ GlassPay is a global payment solution for smart glasses. It delivers an exceptional user experience through secure authentication methods and proven payment technologies. By integrating this solution, you can connect to the Alipay+ global wallet ecosystem and an international network of offline merchants to help grow your business across markets.

Alipay+ GlassPay solution supports the following types of smart glasses:

Display: Glasses with or without a display
Connectivity: Support Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity
Operating system: Compatibility with glasses running the Android operating system (paired with both Android and iOS devices)

Basic concepts

Term (Abbreviation)	Definition
Mobile Payment Provider (MPP)	A Mobile Payment Partner participating in Alipay+ Core or other user- or issuer-facing payment service provider cooperating with a member of Ant Group to enable payments.
GlassPay App	A hands-free, voice-activated payment application provided by Alipay+ designed for smart glasses, enabling instant payments through voice commands.
Merchant	A person that enters into a Transaction with a User which is acquired by an Acquiring Service Provider or an Indirect Acquiring Service Provider, as applicable.
Voiceprint	Voiceprint is a biometric identifier comprising an individually distinctive pattern of certain voice characteristics. Alipay+ GlassPay uses voiceprint recognition to verify a person's identity by analyzing unique physiological and behavioral features embedded in their speech.
Alipay+ mini-program	A mini-program, also known as a Mini App, is a lightweight application that runs within a host mobile application, without requiring separate download and installation. In the Alipay+ GlassPay solution, Alipay+ mini-program is provided for the MPP to manage the glasses bound to their MPP app.
Companion App	A mobile application on mobile phone (iOS/Android) designed to serve as the primary user interface and control center for the glasses. It enables seamless pairing, configuration, content synchronization, and remote management of the glasses.

User experience

Bind the glasses

The following figure illustrates the user experience of binding the glasses to the MPP app:

The user experience includes the following steps:

The user taps Alipay+ GlassPay in the companion app to start binding the payment method.
The user is redirected to the MPP app's Alipay+ mini-program. The user agrees to the User Terms and Conditions and taps Link now.
The user verifies their identity through a verification process.
The user selects a language for voiceprint recording and then taps Start to record their voiceprint. And then, the user needs to read the text displayed on the Alipay+ mini-program page aloud with their glasses on. The system records the user's voiceprint features for future payment verification.
The user sets the payment limit and confirms the binding.
A successful binding page is displayed to the user.

Make a payment

The following figure illustrates the user experience of making a payment with display glasses:

The user experience includes the following steps:

The user opens the MPP app on the glasses using voice activation, for example, by saying, "Hi Glass, pay 5 dollars" or other methods.
The MPP app begins scanning QR codes.
After scanning a valid payment QR code, the payment amount is shown, or the user says the payment amount.
The user needs to say "confirm" as instructed to confirm the payment. If the payment amount is incorrect, the user can say a different amount to modify it.
The system verifies the user's identity using voice recognition, completes the payment, and then displays the payment result.

Unbind glasses and manage payment limits

The following figure illustrates the user experience of glasses unbinding and payment limit management:

The user experience includes the following steps:

In the Alipay+ mini-program, the user taps the settings icon.
In the Edit preferences, the user taps Unlink glasses to unbind their glasses or taps the payment limit amount to adjust it.
The user confirms their action, and a results page is displayed.

Note: The glasses can also be unlinked in the companion app. You can design your own unlinking experience using the APIs provided by the Alipay+ GlassPay solution.

How it works

The following figure illustrates the process of how Alipay+ GlassPay works:

Binding flow - the user binding workflow consists of the following steps:

Ensure that the glasses are connected to a phone, linked to the companion app, and the phone has an active internet connection.
In the companion app, navigate to the payment binding section to initiate the process.
The companion app calls the startBinding API to redirect users to the Alipay+ mini-program in the MPP app.
The user agrees to the user agreement and privacy terms to proceed with the binding process.
The user records a voiceprint using their glasses.
Upon successful voiceprint recording, a binding success status is displayed both in the Alipay+ mini-program and on the glasses. The companion app can also check binding status by calling the SDK's getBindStatus API.

Payment flow - the payment workflow consists of the following steps:

Ensure that the glasses are connected to a phone, linked to the companion app, and the phone has an active internet connection. If the glasses support standalone internet connectivity, a phone connection is not required.
The user starts the payment process through voice commands, button presses, or screen selections.
The AI assistant system on the glasses detects the user's intent to initiate a payment. Then, it calls the scanPay API to open the GlassPay app on the glasses and initiate the payment process.
The user is prompted to state the payment amount and confirm the transaction verbally. If the payment code type includes the amount, users can confirm the payment directly.
Alipay+ performs a voiceprint verification to authenticate the user's identity.
Upon successful verification, the payment is processed, and the glasses display the payment status to the user.
