Overview

When Alipay+ receives the payment success result from the MPP while the payment status in Alipay+ has already been identified as closed, failed, or duplicated, Alipay+ internally initiates a cancellation request to return the funds to the MPP. This cancellation transaction is not included in the clearing and settlement files.

This topic introduces the processing workflow and four scenarios where Alipay+ initiates a cancellation request.

Figure 1. Workflow of cancellation by Alipay+ after payment success

As Figure 1 shows, four scenarios might trigger Alipay+ to initiate a cancellation request after receiving a payment success result.

  • Scenario 1:When Alipay+ receives a cancellation request from the ACQP before receiving a payment success result from the MPP, Alipay+ internally cancels the transaction and updates the payment as closed. Then, if Alipay+ receives a payment success result from the MPP, Alipay+ initiates a cancellation request.
  • Scenario 2: When Alipay+ closes the transaction internally due to timeout before the user completes the payment, the payment status in Alipay+ is closed. Then, if Alipay+ receives the payment success result from MPP, Alipay+ initiates a cancellation request.
  • Scenario 3: When a payment is processed by two different MPPs (MPP A and MPP B), MPP B returns a payment success result before MPP A. In this scenario, after receiving the payment success result from MPP A, Alipay+ initiates the cancellation request for the duplicate payment made by MPP A.
  • Scenario 4: When Alipay+ first receives a payment failure result from the MPP, the payment status in Alipay+ is failed. If Alipay+ laterreceives a payment success result for the same transaction, Alipay+ initiates a cancellation request for the latter payment transaction.

For the cancellation request initiated in the above scenarios, the MPP needs to return the funds to users after receiving the cancellation request from Alipay+.
