Terminology

A glossary of the terms, abbreviations and definitions in the code-scanning payment standard.

Consumer-Presented Code (CPC)

Also known as business-scan-consumer (B-scan-C) code. QR codes or barcodes presented by users for merchants to scan with their reading devices to initiate payments.

Code Issuer ID (CII)

Numbers that can identify the code issuers.

Consumer Identification Number (CIN)

Numbers that can identify the consumers.

Code Directory Service (CDS)

A service provided by a technical platform that facilitates the dynamic maintenance of acquiring information supported by merchants, which can be retrieved from the CDS platform with an index number assigned by the CDS platform to each merchant.

Merchant-Presented Code (MPC)

Also known as consumer-scan-business (C-scan-B) code. QR codes or barcodes presented by merchants for users to scan with the wallet apps in their mobile devices to initiate payments.

Order Code

Merchant-presented codes for users to scan and identify the order to which payment is made. Users need to confirm the payment amount that is automatically generated.

Store Code

Merchant-presented codes for users to scan and identify the merchant to whom payment is made. Users need to enter the payment amount.
