Transport Code FAQs

What is the Transport Code service?

The Transport Code is a QR code issued by public transport operators in each city. After you enable the Transport Code service, you can use the code to ride public transport.

How do I activate the Transport Code service?

To activate the Transport Code service, take the following steps:

  1. Open the Alipay+ Cross-border Transport mini program.
  2. Tap Enable service.
  3. Enter your personal information and sign the Auto Debit agreement.
  4. The service is activated.

How do I use Transport Code to board public transport?

Swipe the Transport Code against the code-scanning device when taking public vehicles. If the code-scanning device displays "Code-scanning success" or makes a beep sound, the gates open, and you may board the metro or bus.

How do I check my ride history?

  • Tap Ride History under the Transport Code area to check.
  • Or alternatively, tap the Transport Code name to enter the Settings page. Select Ride History to check.

How does fare deduction work after a trip?

The Transport Code service runs in Ride First and Pay Later mode. After you exit a station or leave a vehicle, the system creates a deduction request based on your itinerary and charges the payment method bound to your wallet.

How is the fare paid?

After the itinerary is generated, the fare is automatically deducted from your wallet.

Can I use Transport Code when my phone has no network connection?

In general, the Transport Code can be used without a network connection. If your phone is offline and the code does not display, the service is unavailable.

Can the Transport Code be associated with an existing physical transit card?

No. The Transport Code is not linked to physical transit cards. Transfer discounts apply only when you take the same vehicle with the same payment method.

Can I use my Transport Code to pay for my friend's trip?

No. Transport Code is for personal use only. Some transport operators stipulate that the same code cannot be scanned on the same bus repeatedly within 10 minutes.

Can I share the Transport Code screenshots or photos with others?

Do not share screenshots and photos of your Transport Code. The Transport Code is for personal use only. Any financial risk caused by code sharing is borne by you.

Why did I receive a deduction notification even though I didn't use the code?

The deduction of the transport fare is generally processed after the trip finishes. Check your ride history for the deduction record, trip time, and details. If something looks wrong, contact your wallet's customer service and provide screenshots of the ride record and bill.

Why is there a late deduction? Does it mean a repeated deduction?

The Transport Code runs in "Ride First and Pay Later" mode. The system deducts fares after the user exits the station and finishes the trip. Due to network, system, devices, and other reasons, there might be delays in uploading part of the itinerary data. Deductions for this part of the itinerary will also be delayed.

What should I do if the scanner fails to read my Transport Code?

  • If the code-scanning device displays "Please refresh", please tap the Transport Code area to refresh and try again.
  • If the device displays "Can not be used" or "Identification failed", check the Transport Code name and service area to make sure you are using the correct code.

What should I do if I swipe the code but the gates do not open?

Please go to the station's customer service center for assistance.

What if my entry or exit was not recorded?

  • If you have another trip planned for the same day, go to the station's customer service center and ask staff to update your trip record with the correct entry or exit.
  • If you do not ride again on the same day, you will be notified the next day to add the missing itinerary. Submit the requested information promptly.

What if I entered and exited using different Transport Codes?

You must use the same Transport Code to complete a single trip. If you accidentally used different codes and were overcharged, contact the transport operator for assistance.

What does "Please provide exit/entry information" mean, and how do I resolve it?

It means a previous trip is incomplete and requires you to supply entry or exit information. Complete the itinerary supplement by either:

  • Tap Add missing station in the pop-up on the Transport Code page, supplement, and select the correct station.
  • Under the Transport Code area, tap Settings > Missing ride records, enter the correct station, and tap Submit.

After you submit the supplementary information, the fare for the itinerary will be processed.

Which routes are supported by the Transport Code?

The vehicles and routes supported by each Transport Code are different. Tap Line Routes under the Transport Code area to check.
